PURPOSE: To recover economically CO and H2 of high purity in the titled purifying method by pressure fluctuation system adsorption operation by carrying out specified three-step treatment and utilizing exhaust gas from the 3rd step in the purge stage of the 1st step.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st-step treatment using adsorption towers A, B each packed with a CO2 adsorbent, the 2nd-step treatment using adsorption towers C, D, E, F each packed with CO adsorbent and the 3rd-step treatment using adsorption towers G, H each packed with CO and N2 adsorbents are successively carried out. By the 1st-step treatment, CO2 in a gaseous starting material (gaseous mixture contg. CO, CO2, H2 and N2) is released from the system through a pipe 7. By the 2nd-step treatment, CO is recovered in a product tank 42. By the 3rd- step treatment, H2 is recovered in a product tank 55, and exhaust gas contg. practically no CO2 is produced. This exhaust gas is sent to the 1st step through a buffer tank 54, and it is used in the purge stage.
