Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a vaccine useful for prevention and treatment of the intestinal protozoon infection, especially Giardiasis by culturing an intestinal protozoon in a growth medium containing bile. CONSTITUTION: A vaccine strain manifesting protective immunogenicity is obtained by culturing an intestinal protozoon strain in a growth medium containing bile. A vaccine composition capable of providing the protective immunity against the intestinal protozoon when the composition is administered in vivo is obtained by formulating an immunogen selected from a group of the vaccine strain, a subunit and a toxin thereof, and combination thereof. An infectious symptom of the intestinal protozoon in human beings, oxen, sheep, goats, rabbits, horses, pigs, dogs, cats and birds, such as diarrhoea, abdomen convulsion, headache, gas flatulence, body weight reduction, dewatering, dysphoria, malabsorption, colony formation in gut by a parasite and eccrisis of cyst is softened.
