Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a to-be-recorded medium having the superior absorbing efficiency of ink and blocking resistance and representing clear and sharp dots, by providing a coat layer of a specific cyclic oligosaccharide and a methylated substance of the cyclic oligosaccharide on the surface of a base material.
CONSTITUTION: A coating liquid is prepared by dissolving or dispersing a cyclic compound expressed by a formula I (a formula II indicates a lactose ring) and a methylated substance of the compound together with the other additives, if necessary in water, alcohol or other suitable organic solvent. The coating liquid is applied onto a base material of a paper, a plastic film, a glass sheet, a cloth or the like by a roll coater or in the similar method, which is then dried in a hot wind drying furnace, etc., to form a coating layer. The to-be- recorded medium is obtained in this manner. The compound represented by the formula I is concretely a cyclic oligosaccharide wherein 6-8 molecules of fructose are coupled in β 2-1 fructoside linkage. The obtained to-be-recorded medium has the high absorbence of ink and superior blocking resistance, showing clear dots, and is therefore useful for ink-jet recording.
