PURPOSE: To accelerate the rising of the extent of electrostatic charge of a toner and to make the distribution of the extent of electrostatic charge narrow and the electrostatic chargeability uniform on a developer transferring body by incorporating a specified basic org. acid-metal complex into the toner.
CONSTITUTION: A toner is composed essentially of a resin (A), a colorant and a basic org. acid-metal complex (B) for providing negative charges to the resin A. The base polymer of the resin A has a mol.wt. distribution consisting of low and high mol.wt. components and carboxy groups in a polymer component corresponding to the low mol.wt. component have been cross-linked with multivalent metal ions in-between. The complex B is a compd. represented by formula I, the pref. absorbance in the wavelength range of 400W700nm is ≤0.4 and a compd. represented by formula II may be concretely used. In the formula I, X is a neutral ligand, -O-Y-OCO- is bidentate ligand derived from salicylic acid or oxynaphthoic acid, M+p is a p-valent metal ion, each of (m) and (n) is coordination number and Z is a group of counter ions.
