PURPOSE: To obtain a toner providing easily viewable picture image without generating gloss even if it is fixed by hot pressing by coating the surface of nucleus particles having larger paticle size than a specified particle size which are not melted at a hot fixing temp. with a mixture of magnetic powder or a colorant and particles of microfine polymer which are melted at the hot fixing temp.

CONSTITUTION: A slurry of nucleus particles 2 having ≥3μ particle size and are not melted at the hot fixing temp., such as metal, ceramic material or crosslinked polymer, etc. is prepd. On one hand, a dispersion having ≥8pH is prepd. by adding a dispersion contg. fine magnetic powder, pigment of an optional color, white pigment, carbon black, or a dye to a dispersion of microfine polymer meltable at the hot fixing temp. prepd. by emuslion polymn. of styrene, (meth)acrylate etc. alone or as a mixture thereof in aq. medium. The dispersion is added to the above described slurry of the nucleus particles 1 to obtain a uniformly dispersed mixture, which is dried by spraying at above the glass transition temp. of the microfine polymer to obtain a toner contg. particles 2 coated with the coating layer 3. When the toner is fixed by heating on a substrate such as paper, a superior picture image which has no gloss and is easily viewable is obtd.
