Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stably detect the emptiness of toner even if the output level of a toner detecting sensor is fluctuated in a toner emptiness detecting method for detecting the empty state of the toner in a developing unit and a device for the method.
CONSTITUTION: In the toner emptiness detecting method for fetching the output of a detecting means 29 for detecting the toner in a toner hopper 231 in a control circuit 30 and detecting the emptiness of the toner, a step for fetching the output of the detecting means 29 in each constant period, a step for comparing a fetching value with an average value in the previous detection period, a step for counting a frequency of that the fetching value in a prescribed detection period is smaller than the average value, a step for calculating the average value of the fetching value in a detection period and a step for comparing the count value with a prescribed value and outputting the emptiness when the count value is larger than the prescribed value are provided.
