Title:
TOOL AND METHOD FOR FIXING METAL MEMBERS TO EACH OTHER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11303836
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To permanently fix parts between metal members to each other by providing a main body made of the heat resistant material with a through hole formed from an upper part to a metal member to be connected, and filling the thermit agent and the igniting agent on a melting pan arranged on the way of the through hole.

A main body 6 is made of graphite, and formed with a through hole 2, and the inner wall surface thereof is finished to a smooth surface nearly close to the mirror finish. An iron melting pan 3 is placed on a step difference 7 on the way, and the iron thermit 4 is filled thereon, and furthermore, the igniting agent 5 is arranged. Two pieces of an upper and a lower metal angles 14, 15 are threadedly fastened to each other by a bolt 11 from under and nuts 13, 12 from over, and the upper part is covered with a bottom part of the through hole 2. When the igniting agent 5 is ignited, the melting pan 3 is melted by the high reaction heat of the thermit mixture 4, and the molten steel is fallen onto the bolt 11 and the nut 12, and a slug is positioned thereon. After cooling it, when the main body 6 is pulled up, the bolt 11 and the nut 12 are strongly fixed to each other by the solidified molten steel, and the slug can be eliminated by a hammer or the like, Metal members can be thereby easily, permanently and strongly fixed to each other.
