Abstract:
PURPOSE: To restrain the fluctuation in the cutting resistance, enhance the edge strength and accurately machine a work by generating in a prescribed cam shape without requiring high-speed reversing of a massive tool rest.
CONSTITUTION: A first shaft 7 is turnably held by a tool rest body 5. A second shaft 9 is turnably held in an eccentric position of the first shaft 7. A third shaft 11 is turnably held in an eccentric position of the second shaft 9, and thereto a bite 2 is fitted via a holder 4. The first shaft 7, the second shaft 9, and the third shaft 11 are driven by a first build-in motor 12, a second built-in motor 13, and a third built-in motor 14 respectively. On the basis of the cam shape data, respective built-in motors 12 to 14 are controlled, and while keeping the bite 2 always in the direction perpendicular to the tangent of a cutting surface and in a given edge height by the combined motion of the respective shafts 7, 9, and 11, a work 1 is cut in a prescribed cam shape.
