PURPOSE: To make the automatic selection of tools performable so easily, by making out a tool file, while selecting a tool to be used from the parts form inputted and, when the proper tool fails to find out of the tool file, registering it temporarily.
CONSTITUTION: A tool file TF, for example, has a range of tool management numbers from zero to 2699, and one piece of tool number, type nominal diameter, material quality and rotational direction are conformed at each tool management number, and that detailed tool data are separately set to the tool of each tool number. In this connection, tool management numbers 0W99 are of an unusedezone, while numbers 100W299 are of a center drill zone, and 2500W2699 are of a face mill zone. At the time of automatic programming, when the desired tool fails to find out of the tool file TF, type, form, etc. of this tool is temporarily registered to the tool management numbers 0W99 of the tool file TF. And, referring to the temporarily registered data after automatic programming process completion, tool selection and registration processing are carried out.
