To provide a tool allowing safely stripping the sheath of a cable without changing the holding state of the tool.
A plier type tool for stripping a cable sheath sandwiches the cable on the tip side of a pair of arms, sets a blade disposed to one of the arms in the length direction of the arm, and turns the arm around the cable to make a cut in the sheath in the peripheral direction thereof. While keeping gripping of the arms, the blade is turned to an orthogonal direction by lever operation e.g. and the tool is moved in the axial direction of the cable, thereby a cut of a desired length in the axial direction is made in the sheath. Moreover, a cut in a peripheral direction is made by cutting the sheath in a round with the blade turned to a direction orthogonal to a cable shaft by another lever operation. Then, the sheath is stripped from a core wire by holding a part of the sheath with a stripping protrusion at the tip of the arm.
