To obtain the subject composition, safe to the oral cavity tissues and making a coloring substance attached to or penetrated into teeth light in color to whiten and clean them, by including ascorbic acid or its salt.
This composition contains 1 to 95wt.% of a combination of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with its salt (e.g. sodium or potassium ascorbate). The composition can be incorporated with components used for common tooth powders. These include a foaming agent or foaming aid (e.g. a salt of alkylsulfuric acid ester), abrasives (e.g. calcium secondary phosphate), bulking agent (e.g. polyethylene glycol), sweetener (e.g. saccharin, to be contained at 0.05 to 10wt.% based on the ascorbic acid or its salt), preservative, microbicide, medicinal ingredient, and pH adjustor.
