To achieve a dehydrator which can respond to the high speed operation of an on-top former of a paper machine, and has an inexpensive and simple structure.
This on-top former of the paper machine includes wide blades 4, 5 having wire support sides 52, 53 contacting an upper wire 2 and having a cross-section having a convex curvature radius toward the upper wire, and dehydration grooves 51 whose depths are gradually increased in a wire travel direction on the back side of the upper wire 2 at the start end part of the second dehydration region II, a white water storage tank 6 disposed above the wide blades and having a negative pressure space formed therein, a white water drainage 10 for communicating between the dehydration grooves 51 and the upper part of the white water storage tank 6, and separation weirs 14, 15 abutting on the back side of the upper wire 2 to guide white water along the back side of the upper wire 2 to the white water drainage 10 on the downstream side in the wire travel direction of the dehydration grooves 51.
