PURPOSE: To manufacture the ingot of the casting surface as excellent as that in the bottom pouring ingot making method by floating the refractory board having a pouring hole on the molten steel surface while the molten steel is poured, and pouring the molten steel through the pouring hole.
CONSTITUTION: The molten steel 6 is poured from the top into a mold 2 and a stool 7 by the pouring flow of the molten steel from the top. A cylindrical refractory 3 having a ring and a cylindrical refractory 4 to be preliminarily set in the mold 2 before the pouring are elevated on the molten steel surface as the pouring. The cylindrical refractory 3 having the ring and the cylindrical refractory 4 prevent the splash 8 from being scattered, and seal the molten steel surface to prevent the oxide film and solidified film from being generated. No splash is scattered onto the casting wall during the pouring, and the ingot of excellent casting surface can be manufactured because the molten steel surface is sealed.
