Title:
TOROIDAL CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3932682
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the overall size of a toroidal continuously variable transmission with a differential gear mechanism and a gear train for outputting power to the mechanism, while ensuring a necessary reduction ratio of the gear train.
SOLUTION: An idle shaft 125 is interposed between a secondary shaft 13 mounted with a planetary gear mechanism 50 and the axis of a differential gear mechanism 130. The shaft 125 is equipped with a first large-diameter idle gear 122 engaging an output gear 121 on the secondary shaft 13 and with a second small-diameter idle gear 123 engaging a driving gear 124 (fourth gear) in the differential gear mechanism 130, both which idle gears are arranged in parallel fashion. The second small-diameter idle gear 123 is arranged at the substantially axially same position as a high-mode clutch 70 mounted on the secondary shaft 13.
