Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter and the control method thereof capable of improving the power performance of an automobile especially at the time of middle-low speed running by reducing the stroll speed of an engine and reducing energy loss.
SOLUTION: The angle of vane 13 on the side of outlet of working oil flow path R1 in a pump impeller 10 is inclined at the angle of about 30 to 45 degrees in the rotational direction D from the radial direction. The angle of vane 23 on the side of inlet of working oil flow path in a turbine impeller 20 is inclined at the angle of about 30 to 45 degrees in the reverse direction to the rotational direction D from the radial direction. The ratio between the blade length L of the vane 32 of a stator impleller 30 and a pitch T on the average flow line of the vane 32 in the flow path inlet is made about T/L=1 to 1.5.
