Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a torque detecting apparatus wherein a mechanism which can be expanded and contracted in the axial direction is provided as a unitary body in the torque detecting device and the space can be saved. CONSTITUTION:A serration part 43a is formed at the inner surface wall of a cylindrical body sensor 43 with the bottom a torque detecting apparatus 48. A resin coated layer is formed at the serration part 43a. A large-diameter cylindrical groove part 44 of a steering shaft 49 at the output side is coupled into the serration part 43a so that the groove part 44 can be moved in the axial direction. A plurality of elastic plate springs 3 for transmitting torque are pressed into a supporting plate 1 and a supporting plate 2 and fixed symmetrically with respect to the center of rotation. The change in magnetoresistance which is generated in correspondence with the magnitude of the bending of each elastic plate spring 3 is detected with a coil.
