To provide a torque detection apparatus which can improve the installation operation of a magnetic shielding plate for reducing the detection errors caused by an external magnetic field and accurately integrate the magnetic shielding plate.
The torque detection apparatus comprises a flux concentrating circular section 5, which is provided at the periphery of a magnetic circuit forming member to concentrate magnetic flux generated by the magnetic circuit forming member, a detection section 6 for detecting a torque applied to a rotating body, on the basis of the density of the magnetic flux concentrated by the flux concentrating circular section 5, and the magnetic shielding plate 7 covering the periphery of the flux concentrating circular section 5. A first restriction section 13 for restricting the movement of the magnetic shielding plate 7 in the axial direction and a second restriction section for restricting the movement of the magnetic shielding plate 7 in the radial direction are provided at the periphery of the flux concentrating circular section 5. The magnetic shielding plate 7 is provided with a first engaging section 71 and a second engaging section which are engaged with the first restriction section 13 and the second restriction section, respectively.
