The position detecting part 2 of this touch panel display device detects a position where a touch panel 1 is touched. An area setting part 4 sets a non-display area where a pointer is made non-display. A comparing part 5 detects whether or not the position where the panel 1 is touched is within the area of non-display by comparing the position detected by the part 2 with the area set by the part 4. A controlling part 6 controls an on-screen signal generating part 3 so that the display/non-display of the point can be controlled in accordance with the detection output of the part 5.
