PURPOSE: To obtain a touch sensor high in transparency and capable of surely detecting the contact of a human body by detecting the change in the static capacitance between opposed electrodes due to the contact of a human body to apply switch control to the load.
CONSTITUTION: Opposed electrodes 12A∼12D, 13A∼13D are exposed on a transparent substrate 11 to constitute touch switch sections A∼D. In touching a hand to, e.g., a part A of the switch sections, the electrodes 12A, 13A conducted, static capacitance of the human body C is connected in parallel with a capacitor C1 of an oscillation circuit 16 to increase the combined capacitance. Thus, the pulse width of the output pulse of the circuit 16 is extended and a detection circuit 17 detects an ON signal depending on the difference from the pulse width. The output signal is fed to a CPU circuit 18, which discriminates the operation of the switch section A, a block 15A corresponding to the switch section A on an EL panel 14 is radiated to confirm the operation of the switch A from the front surface of the substrate 11. Further, an external is connected as a load in addition to the panel 14.
