Title:
TOUGHNESS AND TENACITY TESTING MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05306980
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a small-sized toughness and tenacity testing machine which is suitable for testing the toughness and tenacity of asphalt and can be easily operated.

CONSTITUTION: A screw shaft 6 interlocked with a motor 4 is erected on a pedestal 3. The nut section 8a of a holding section 8 is engaged with the shaft 6 and the engaging section 8b of the section 8 is engaged with the rail 9 of a case 5. A load cell 12 fitted with a tension head 13 is provided at the front end of the section 8 and a sample container 20 is mounted on a mounting section 40 on the pedestal 3. After sinking the tension head 13 in asphalt 30 contained in the container 20, the motor 4 is driven. As a result, the asphalt 30 is pulled, because the shaft 6 rotates and the head 13 ascends. The displacement and tensile load of the asphalt 30 are detected by means of a rotary encoder 50 and the load cell 12 and a load versus displacement curve is drawn from the detected results. The toughness and tenacity of the asphalt are recognized as the area of a prescribed extent in the curve.
