Abstract:
Provided are a tower structure and a method of curbing vortex-induced vibration that make it possible to curb vortex-induced vibration with a simple and inexpensive configuration. An iron tower 10 comprises a straight pipe 12 which has a circular cross-section and is erected in the vertical direction, and a tapered pipe 14 having a circular cross-section that gradually tapers in the diameter going upward. The tapered pipe 14 has, at a lower end section, the same diameter as the straight pipe 12, and is provided coaxially on the straight pipe 12. A bonding section 18 between the straight pipe 12 and the tapered pipe 14 is formed so as to be continuous. An upper end of the tapered pipe 14 is the upper apex of the whole. A length ratio RH indicated by the lengths of the straight pipe 12 and the tapered pipe 14 is substantially 1/1. A taper ratio RT of the tapered pipe 14 is substantially 1.5/100. An antenna 24 is provided to an upper section of the iron tower 10. The iron tower 10 is provided with the function of emitting gas.
