Title:
TRAFFIC MONITORING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2002083396
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a traffic monitoring/driver supporting/communication system, permitting communication with a number of vehicles on a long-distance highway with plural lanes without requiring an increase in band width.

The traffic monitoring system comprises a plural lane terminals each having a sensor for detecting the passage of vehicles, arranged along the travelling direction of the highway, a communication antenna, a terminal transceiver for communication with passing vehicles via the communication antenna, a network backbone for connecting the lane terminals to a data processor for editing information for detected passing vehicles. The system allows the assessment of complicated tolls for a toll rod. A cell is made relatively smaller by using a number of short range antennas, permitting cell-system communication with a number of moving vehicles without increasing a band width.
