To provide a train information providing system whereby it is possible to acquire the information of the departing and arriving times of a train and its station and other relevant information anywhere at any time via a portable communication terminal unit quickly and simply.

The train information providing system is configured with portable communication terminal unit and a train information transmitting device to be connected with a network in which such portable terminal units are integrated, wherein the train information transmitting device searches train information in conformity to a guide request received from the portable terminal unit and transmits the obtained data to the portable terminal unit, wherein the portable terminal unit is equipped with a talk means, a communication means to exchange information with the train information transmitting device, a display means for train information given from the train information transmitting device and a terminal unit control means, while the train information transmitting device is equipped with a memory means to record the station name data, a memory means to store the train information data, a searching means to search the particular train information corresponding to the train information data on the basis of the departure/arrival station name and specified departure/arrival time frame, a communication means to exchange information with the portable terminal unit, and a control means for the operations of the mentioned means.
