Title:
TRANSDUCTION OF GENE THAT CAN BE EXPRESSED IN PLANT CELL GENOME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001029092
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a novel plant cell for producing a useful metabolite that does not include a gene controlling the growth of tumor having a T-DNA sequence in a wild type Ti plasmid and includes a promoter region forming RNA in a sequence and in the plant cell.

This novel plant cell does not include a T-DNA gene that controls the growth of tumor having an inner T-DNA sequence in a wild type Ti plasmid and has a promoter region including a coding sequence and an extraneous promoter sequence other than a natural promoter sequence for this coding sequence. This promoter sequence includes at least one desired gene containing the promoter region that forms RNA in the plant cell by adjusting the transfer of the downstream sequence including the coding sequence and the extraneous DNA is stably incorporated into the genome of the plant cell. Thus, the novel plant cell is useful for producing useful metabolites, for example the precursors of alkaloids or steroids. The plant cell is prepared by transducing an Agrobacterium strain including the Ti plasmid bearing the extraneous gene thereinto.
