PURPOSE: To advance a transfer table on a frame of a unit sequentially while positioning, by providing a plurality of transfer units connected to one another and providing each of the units with a driving device for intermittent transportation.

CONSTITUTION: Transfer units are arranged in the same manner as a closed circuit, and provided with a processing device corresponding to each process. A lateral transfer unit 3 comprises substantially U-shaped frames 10W12 with the top opened which are connected to one another, the top of the frame being provided with a pallet 6 is sequentially advanced by an intermittent driving device. The driving device comprises a transfer table 23 adapted to move quadrilaterally according to an endless chain 12. The driving device is driven by two pairs of endless chains moved by one motor 20, thereby to accomplish an assured transportation.
