To provide a transfer device for a roll ink-ribbon in which a tension being applied to an ink-ribbon can be made constant to the utmost from start to end of feeding thereof by varying a driving torque being applied to a ribbon winding shaft depending on the roll diameter as the roll ink-ribbon is fed in stripe, and elongation of a print can be minimized to the utmost.
The transfer device of a roll ink-ribbon detects the angular rotational speed of a driving shaft 34 by means of an optical encoder 37, detects the angular rotational speed of a ribbon winding shaft 17 by means of optical encoders 37, 40 and, while detecting the ratio of both angular rotational speeds with time, drives the driving shaft 34 so that the ratio falls within a specified range.
