To provide an image forming material which enables easy attainment of an image of high durability and prevents occurrence of jamming at the time of carriage and a transfer foil used therefor.
In regard to a transfer foil for protecting an image of an image forming material prepared by providing on a substrate a colorant layer in which a color agent is contained in a binder and of which the thickness is t1, the transfer foil has a heat-sensitive transfer layer which is obtained by applying on a separate substrate a coating solution containing a thermoplastic resin binder emulsion dispersed in a single solvent or two or more kinds of solvents and by drying the solution and which has a thickness of t2, and satisfies the relation of t2>2×t1. The binder of the heat-sensitive transfer layer of this transfer foil contains preferably the thermoplastic resin of Tg 20-70°C by 50% or above.
