PURPOSE: To obtain a transfer paper having high transfer speed and enabling repeated use of the base material by applying a transfer layer composed of a layer containing a specific component to one surface of a base material.
CONSTITUTION: A surface of a base material 10 such as plastic film or sheet made of polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, etc., is coated with a varnish containing a resin such as polymethyl methacrylate and polyethylene glycol to form a releasing layer 21 and the coated vanish layer is printed with an ink layer 22 containing a reactive dye or direct dye to form a desired pattern. A hydrophobic barrier layer 23 composed of paraffin, wax, etc., is formed on the surface and a water-soluble tacky adhesive layer 24 containing CMC, starch paste, etc., and an alkaline agent such as sodium bicarbonate and a carbonate is applied to the barrier layer to obtain a transfer paper capable of performing stable transfer printing to a cellulosic fiber, etc., at a high printing speed. The transfer printing to a cotton/polyester blended cloth can be carried out by mixing a disperse dye into the ink layer.
