To provide a transfer set that is utilized with conventional containers such as vials, or the like, assures sealing of the container, achieves a good level of cleanliness without particles or dust which may contaminate medical products, the transfer set or a clean room, and does not expose a health care worker to sharp metal edges.

The transfer set includes a fluid transfer set including: a first tubular collar portion permanently deformed into a neck portion 30 of a first container 22, and for retaining the transfer set; a second tubular portion 50 integral with a radial portion coaxially aligned with a vial open end; a third tubular portion 52 having a first end sealingly engaging a stopper 32 and an opposed free end; a piercing member within the third tubular portion having a channel 78 for transmitting fluid; and a closure. The third tubular portion is integrally joined to the second tubular portion by an intermediate radial web 54 axially spaced apart from an end of the second tubular portion. Fluid is transferred between the first container and the second container upon removal of the closure 44 and movement of the piercing member to pierce a stopper.
