PURPOSE: To carry out the positioning of a transfer tail mechanically by providing a holding means which has a pair of notches opposing each other to receive the transfer tail.

CONSTITUTION: As to a device 12 to hold a transfer tail formed between a feeding body 24 held by a feeding means which consists of a feeding stand 10 and an auxiliary feeding body 26, a holding member which has a pair of notches 36 opposing each other to receive the transfer tail is provided to the holding device 12. As a result, by receiving the transfer tail in the pair of notches 36 of the holding member 38, the transfer tail can be positioned to the grasping position of the transfer tail by a suction pipe 29 as a thread drawing out device. And the receiving of the transfer tail to the pair of notches 36 can be carried out mechanically without using the manual work of a worker.
