To prepare a transfusion for intravenous administration, capable of being administered safer than ever, by preventing onset of phlebitis which frequently occurs in conventional transfusions for peripheral intravenous administration, capable of supplying enough energy, by promoting energy production of fat stored in the body, although an amount of a heat value administered by the transfusion is so small as not to satisfy a basal metabolic heat value, capable of well maintaining a blood glucose level, and having excellent nutritional state maintaining/improving effects.
This transfusion for the intravenous administration contains amino acids, wherein the transfusion has a ratio of an osmotic pressure thereof to that of a physiological salt solution of 1 to 2, a ratio of a nonprotein heat value (kcal) to an amount of total nitrogen (g) of ≤80, and a total heat value of 150-300 kcal/l. It is preferable that the transfusion for the intravenous administration further contains a sugar and has a ratio of the nonprotein heat value (kcal) to the amount of the total nitrogen of 10 to 80.
