To make a translucent composite stone material excellent in adhesion and in a property of design as a translucent plate material transmitting faint light by a method wherein a thin plate of marble is laid on one or both surface sides of a glass plate with an intermediate film for joining interlaid and is bonded thereon by heating, while air between the glass plate and the marble is purged.
A translucent composite material 1 is prepared by laying a transparent glass plate 2 and a thin plate of marble 3 on each other with polyvinyl butyral as an intermediate film 4 for joining interlaid. In this state, the glass plate 2 and the marble 3 are passed through between rolls disposed above and below in a heated state and bonded temporarily, while air between the bonding surfaces is purged. Then, a tire tube is put on the circumferential part of the translucent composite stone material 1 bonded temporarily and the material is put in a state wherein pressure is reduced between the bonding surfaces by a vacuum pump or the like. The material being set in this state in a pressurizing vessel, the air between the bonding surfaces is purged completely by reducing the pressure therebetween in a prescribed required time under heat and pressure, and thereby the glass plate 2 and the thin plate of the marble 3 are bonded together entirely.
