Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission route switch device capable of reducing the storage amount of plural cells transmitted through an intermediate transmission route required for reproduction at a reception side and quickly coping with the generation of a fault in the intermediate transmission route and the restoration in an inverse multiplex transmission system.
SOLUTION: Signals transmitted from a high-speed input transmission line 33 are divided into fixed length packets and transmitted to the plural low-speed intermediate transmission routes 32 exceeding the capacity in the total band in an inverse multiplexer 30 and they are reproduced to an original single stream signal in a multiplexer 31. At the time, in the inverse multiplexer 30, information relating to the intermediate transmission route for transmitting the succeeding packet is added to the header part of the divided fixed length packet as a next packet transmission route number. Also, for the fault generation of the transmission route detected in the multiplexer 31, route information for deciding the route for performing division transmission in the inverse multiplexer 30 is appropriately changed.
