To provide a conveying device capable of avoiding any adverse effect on an article caused by an external force by separating a roller shaft, detecting the separation immediately thereafter, and performing the emergency stop when the external force exceeding the predetermined value is applied to an article lateral pushing body.
When the external force equal to or more than the predetermined value is applied to a lateral pushing unit 72 of an article lateral pushing body 52, a member 79b inside a slit 80 is broken, and a roller shaft 53 is detached from a sliding unit 71, avoiding any adverse effect on an article by continuous application of the external force. Further, by providing a detachment detector 101 for detecting a member 79a outside the slit 80 remaining below the sliding unit 71 on the downstream side of each outgoing path guide device 90, separation of a roller shaft 53 is detected immediately thereafter to perform the emergency stop of an endless chain. Thus, the article with the external force applied thereto, and its sorting position can be checked, and the article lateral pushing body 52 with the roller shaft 53 being detached therefrom can be restored rapidly.
