Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel control apparatus that controls the travel of a vehicle so as to change lanes appropriately in a case where a driver desires to change lanes.SOLUTION: A travel control apparatus includes: obstacle detection means for detecting an obstacle existing nearby a vehicle; space detection means for detecting a space allowing the vehicle to change lanes; travel state detection means for detecting a travel state of the vehicle; determination means for determining a travel scene of the vehicle on the basis of the travel state of the vehicle; prediction means for predicting whether a driver of the vehicle selects a lane change on the basis of the travel scene; and control means for calculating a vehicular speed of the vehicle in order for the vehicle to travel with the space detected before the driver selects a lane change, and performing lane-change-readiness control allowing the vehicle to travel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
