Title:
TRAVEL ROAD DISCRIMINATING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3700508
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and precisely discriminate whether present traveling road is an expressway or a road equivalent to the expressway without any special equipment such as a GPS computer and map data.
SOLUTION: A state detecting means 9 detects at least one of the travel state of the vehicle and the state of a travel path where the vehicle travels. A state discriminating means 7 discriminates whether or not the state detected by the state detecting means 9 is a state equivalent to an expressway. When the state discriminating means 7 discriminates that the state is a state equivalent to the expressway, an integrating means 8 integrates parameters corresponding to the continuance of the discrimination and substantially clears the integral value when the state discriminating means 7 discriminates that the state is not the state corresponding to the expressway. Then a travel road discriminating means 5 discriminates that the vehicle is traveling on the expressway or the road equivalent to the expressway when the integral value exceeds a specific value.
