PURPOSE: To provide a traveling object identifying device causing no interference even when plural interrogators are provided in close proximity.
CONSTITUTION: Sensor means 5a and 5b which detect a traveling object which owns a responder passing through the communication area of the interrogators are provided, and the outputs of interrogators 1a and 1b are on/off controlled according to the detected results of the sensor means 5a and 5b. Thus, only when the traveling object passing through the communication area of the interrogators is detected by the sensors 5a and 5b, the interrogators 1a and 1b corresponding to the sensors 5a and 5b are turned on, so that a communication can be attained without causing interference even when the plural interrogators are arranged so as to be close.
