Abstract:
PURPOSE:To permit the correct measurement which does not require the device on a road which detects the speed and the number of times of passing, etc., of a vehicle by measuring the traveling time between the specific points by the map matching method. CONSTITUTION:A position detector 8 receives 22 the distance and direction data detected by a distance sensor 4 and a direction sensor 3 and calculates the estimated position through the estimation navigation method by a present position estimation part 23, and renews the estimation position according to the corrected present position. A traveling road estimation part 24 calculates the degree of similarity of the road data obtained from the locus of the estimation position and the road map stored in a road map memory 5, and specifies a road having many similarities, and the position of a vehicle on the road is calculated, and the estimated position is corrected by a position reset part 25, and the present position of the vehicle is set. The traveling time on the previously set path in the specific division on the road is measured by a timer built in the device 8. The time data is memorized in a memory 11, and sent into an information processing center by a transmitter 7.
