PURPOSE: To provide a traverse mechanism capable of shortening cycle time.

CONSTITUTION: When a traveling truck 1 traverses between traveling rails 2 and 2, and 3 and 3, a switch table 5 reciprocates on switch table rails 4 and 4. Since with the switch table 5 positioned at the lowest part in Fig. 1, movable rails 6 and 6 on the switch table rails 4 and 4 connected the traveling rails 2 and 2 to fixed rails 8 and 8, a truck 1a reaches the position of a truck 1b and stops. When the switch table 5 is moved to the top level, since movable rails 7 and 7 connected to fixed rails 8 and 8 to the traveling rails 3 and 3, the truck 1b is delivered to the position of a truck 1c, and the traverse of the truck 1b is completed.
