PURPOSE: To maintain a tread in a firmly aligned condition with a casing while transferring the tread to the casing without physical contact with an inside surface in the radial direction of the tread or with an outside surface in the radial direction of the casing in a zone where the tread is correctly aligned with the casing, and these two components are coupled with each other.
CONSTITUTION: A tread 1 whose inner surface in the radial direction with an adhesive applied thereto in advance is covered with a plastic liner is expanded outwardly in the radial direction by an expander assembly 50, the circumference of the expanded tread 1 is surrounded by a transfer mechanism 30, and the expanded tread 1 is further expanded to the dimension sufficient to surround the circumference of a easing 2. Only a side edge of the tread 1 is transferred onto the casing 2 while held by the transfer mechanism 30 in this expanded condition, and the transfer mechanism 30 is aligned together with the tread 1 on the casing 2, and after the plastic liner is released, the tread 1 is transferred from the transfer mechanism 30 thereby transferring the tread to the casing 2 from a center part of the tread.
