Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a treating agent or an anti-inflammatory agent for gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, containing a mixture of higher primary fatty alcohols derived from beeswax.
CONSTITUTION: This treating agent or anti-inflammatory agent contains 0.5-25 wt.% mixture of 24-34C higher primary fatty alcohols composed of 9-15 wt.% 1-tetracosanol, 12-18 wt.% 1-hexacosanol, 13-20 wt.% 1octacosanol, 20-30 wt.% 1-triacontanol, 13-21 wt.% 1-dotriacontanol, 1.5-3.5 wt.% 1-tetratriacontanol as active ingredients. The mixture is obtained by melting beeswax as a raw material, saponifying the melted beeswax with an alkali hydroxide or alkaline earth metal oxide solution and extracting the saponified materials with an organic solvent (e.g. methanol). The mixture can be prepared in the form of tablets, capsules, sugar-coated tablets, etc. The antiinflammatory agent is used by oral, parenteral or topical administration.
