Title:
TREATING CATALYST FOR HEAVY OIL CONTAINING HIGH-SULFUR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5648249
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of the sulfur compound in the decomposed and distilled oil and then eliminate substantially the hydrogen sulfide contained in the decomposed gas, by using the iron and/or the iron oxide under the reducing state in a specified range for the catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: This catalyst contains the iron and/or the iron oxide which has the oxygen of 1.4W0.9 atoms to one atom of the iron and also the ≥30wt% Fe content. Such catalyst is produced in the following method: the natural ore such as the laterite or the like containing the ≥30wt% iron or its mixture with other materials are ground, granulated and dried, and then burned in the air to change all iron compounds into the Fe2O3. Then this burnt substance is mixed with the carbon to be burnt in the reducing atmosphere or to be reduced in the gas current of H2 or CO. The reduction state of the iron can be obtained from the equations I and II and in the balance between the oxygen atom in the exhausted gas under the reducing process and the oxygen atom introduced into the reducing process. The catalyst thus prepared is decomposed by always securing a contact with the high-sulfur content ground oil such as the residual oil after distillation with reduction of pressure or the like.
