PURPOSE: To suppress the generation of uneveness of development and to improve reproducibility of highlight and shadow.
CONSTITUTION: At least, one of developing brush rolls of an automatic developing device has plural bundles of hairs 15 and these bundles of hairs 15 are provided so that a rubbing part of a bundle of hairs and a rubbing part of another bundle of hairs are superposed so that 50 to 95% thereof is held in common. The length of the bundle of hairs 15 is 10 to 20mm and the brush roll with 100 to 200mm outside diameter is rotated at 200 to 500rpm. As to forms of developing brush rolls, at least one of them is an embedded type and at least another is a channel type. The embedded brush roll is independently used or the embedded brush roll and the channel type brush roll are Jointly used. At the time of using, the developing brush roll is preferably oscillated.
