To provide a treating instrument for an endoscope improved in operability and reliability, which can take an amount of specimen more than capacity of its cup from the tissue in a body cavity while hardly damaging the tissue and minimizing the strength reduction of a pair of biopsy cups constituting a treatment part.
This treating instrument is equipped with the treatment part 3 comprising the pair of biopsy cups 5a and 5b, at least one of which can rotate against the other one, mounted on a distal end of an inserting part 2 to be inserted into the body cavity, an operating wire 14 to drive a link mechanism 6 holding the pair of the biopsy cups 5a and 5b openably and closeably at a proximal end of the inserting part so as to open/close the biopsy cups, an abutting part 15 where the pair of the biopsy cups 5a and 5b constituting the treatment part 3 abut on each other in the closed state of them, and notched parts 16a, 16b and 16c formed at the abutting part 15 of at least one of the biopsy cups to partly open the closed abutting part 15.
