To provide a treating liquid capable of efficiently furnishing a carrier, such as a material for a tobacco filter, with a performance of removing aldehydes (especially, formaldehyde).
This treating liquid is composed of polysaccharides having amino groups (such as chitosan) and a plasticizer for the carrier. The treating liquid is usually composed so that the plasticizer comprises a plasticizer which is liquid at ordinary temperature and the treating liquid comprises a dispersion which is given by dispersing granular polysaccharides having the amino groups in the plasticizer. The polysaccharides having the amino groups is contained in the treating liquid in a ratio of about 10-150 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the plasticizer. The treating liquid thus composed is excellent in properties of selectively removing the formaldehyde, so as to be useful for, especially, treating the material for the tobacco filter.
