Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which removes adipate ions and ammonium ions efficiently from a waste solution containing ammonium adipate generated in the chemical treatment of aluminum and in other cases to convert the waste solution into safe drainage and can recover high purity adipic acid. SOLUTION: Waste solution containing ammonium adipate is added with a calcium source such as hydrated lime to be weakly alkaline, heated to crystallize calcium adipate to remove ammonia simultaneously. By adding sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid into the concentrated slurry of crystallized calcium adipate, organic substances (COD) and ammoniac nitrogen in the waste liquid can be reduced simply and easily. In addition, high purity adipic acid can be recovered.
