Abstract:
PURPOSE: :To improve the chemical durability of crystallized phosphate glass and the bending strength after immersion in water by bringing the glass into contact with a molten salt contg. calcium.
CONSTITUTION: A salt contg. ≥20wt% calcium nitrate or calcium chloride is melted by heating to 300W800°C. Crystallized phosphate glass having crystals oriented in one direction is brought into contact with the molten salt at 300W 800°C to form an apatite phase on the surface of the glass. Thus, the chemical durability of the glass and the bending strength after immersion in water are improved.
