PURPOSE: To remove the coarse particle dusts in waste gases without using any dust collector and to prevent the wear of the catalysts in a treating device for gases by controlling the flow speed of the waste gases flowing in a horizontal duct in the upper stream part of said device at specific values or below.
CONSTITUTION: A hopper 5 is provided on the bottom surface near the inlet part of the body 1 of a vertical type denitrating device on the post flow side of a horizontal duct 4 connected to the upper inlet part of said body. The flow speed of waste gases contg. fine and coarse particle dusts of the time when these gases flow in the duct 4 toward the body 1 is controlled to ≤5m/sec by adjustment of a blower or the like. The coarse particle dusts settle on the bottom surface of the duct 4, are forced to the down stream side by the flow of the waste gases, and are captured in the hopper 5, from which they are discharged. The waste gases removed mostly of the coarse particle dusts enter the inside of the body 1, where the waste gases and the residual fine particle dusts are uniformly dispersed by a flow regulating plate 3 and the NOx in the waste gases in reduced by catalyst beds 2, after which they are discharged from the lower part.
