To provide a method of treating wastes by high temperature superheated steam for recycling, energy recovery, and detoxification.
The treatment method comprises bringing wastes into contact with superheated steam at ≥300°C under approximately normal pressure in a container shielded from atmospheric air, thermally decomposing and gasifying the organic wastes and by utilizing heat energy of the superheated steam, reaction activity, and condensation owing to cooling of the superheated steam; converting the produced gas into water gas and recovering a gas reusable for power generation; evaporating, dehalogenating, and detoxicating dioxins from soil and incinerator fly ashes by decomposition; detoxicating heavy metals of organic wastes containing the heavy metals by diffusion; concentrating, recovering, and recycling heavy metals; superheating only a gas mixture of the thermal decomposition gas, evaporated tar, diffused dioxins, and waste steam to 800 to 1,200°C for decomposing dioxins, converting the gas into the water-based gas, gasifying the residual carbides; and condensing and recirculating the superheated steam used for the treatment.
