Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method not only for alleviating nerve injury by stroke but also for improving neurological functions and prognosis.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for treating stroke comprising administration of placenta stem cells, cell population including placenta stem cells and/or a composition comprising the placenta stem cells to a victim of stroke. In certain embodiments, the method comprises administering to an individual having disrupted blood flow in or around the brain isolated human adherent placental cells that are CD73and CD105or OCT-4and facilitate the formation of one or more embryoid-like bodies in a population of placental cells comprising the stem cells when the population is cultured under conditions that allow formation of embryoid-like bodies.
